LA JAM
Where Mongolian Spirit Meets Urban Sound

At the heart of Chendu, Hina joins steppe musicians for an open-air cultural jam, blending Tech House with nomadic traditions under city lights.

The New Mike 2025/5/26

On April 19, 2025, the fusion of electronic music and nomadic heritage unfolded in a remarkable cultural jam session in Chengdu. Hosted by Modern Nomads Cultural Studio and co-organized by Sonicdom, LA JAM PARTY VOL.3 transformed an urban commercial plaza into a modern-day steppe gathering—complete with yurts, live instruments, fermented dairy drinks, and DJ sets under the city skyline.

Open Market, Open Music: A Living Soundscape

Beginning at 2:00 PM, the event welcomed visitors into an immersive Mongolian-style market. Through the afternoon, a variety of participatory activities unfolded—live instrument exploration, interactive steppe music, and cultural tastings.

At sunset, Hina—a Sonicdom-affiliated DJ—took the stage for a spontaneous set with Mongolian musicians. The blend of Tech House grooves and grassland melodies created a rich sonic tapestry, moving effortlessly between mechanical repetition and organic flow.

As the night deepened, the boundaries between artist and audience faded entirely during the Open Jam and Late-Night DJ Relay, transforming the space into a co-created soundscape of pulse, people, and place.

A Cultural Collision Done Right

This was not just a music party—it was a living installation of shared identity. The aesthetic fusion of urban structure and steppe culture—visible in the circular yurts, handwritten Mongolian scripts floating above high-rises, and techno vibrations—manifested a narrative of coexistence rather than contrast.

Modern Nomads has long championed the idea of bridging tradition with youth expression. Their collaboration with Sonicdom added curatorial precision and audio-visual power rooted in the electronic music world. Together, they brought the concept of "Urban Nomadism" to life.

Hina’s Words, Everyone’s Rhythm

One of the event’s defining moments came when Hina, midway through his collaborative set, stepped off the booth and joined a circle of jamming instrumentalists. “We’re not performing,” he said. “We’re synchronizing.”

This ethos—breaking down barriers between stage and floor—is a central tenet of both LA JAM and Sonicdom’s mission: to turn spectators into participants, and music into shared energy.

Looking Forward

As the final beats echoed into the Chengdu night, it was clear this event had sparked something meaningful: a model for localized yet borderless musical connection, grounded in authenticity, spontaneity, and cultural respect.
